The fall weather is beckoning and being in some level of quarantine for months feels confining. With the pandemic still lingering on and numerous events being cancelled, you’re probably curious if anything is happening around the Houston area this fall. The answer is Yes! Keep reading for some highlights of both in-person and virtual events.

Local Fall Events Around the Houston Metro Region

Before choosing an event to attend, it’s important to continue observing the same health practices as we’ve been doing these past months:

• Maintain social distancing of 6 feet, even when attending outdoor events.
• Wear a face mask.
• Wash your hands and refrain for unnecessary touch.

Now through Oct. 31 – Boo On The Boardwalk, Kemah Boardwalk at 215 Kipp Avenue (in the area of Clear Lake/Bay Area Houston)

Spooky décor and fun galore can be found at the Little Boo Haunted Fun House plus trick-or-treating every weekend and on Halloween from 2pm-8pm at the retail stores.

Now through Nov. 1 – Boo Zoo happening at Houston Zoo, 6200 Hermann Park Drive, Houston

Zoo Boo is a family-friendly event, and all costumes must be appropriate for ghouls of all ages. Highlights include the Spooky Train Village, the Friendly Dragon, and a spooktacular Scary-Go-Round.

Now through Nov. 27 – The Front Porch Concert Series at Century Square, Century Square at 175 Century Square Drive, Houston

This event is recurring weekly on Thursday, Friday, Saturday from 7pm-10pm. Recreating the scene, rocking chairs and all, with a weekend full of music underneath the twinkling lights on The Green. Artists line-up will include solos + duos made up of students and locals alike who are making their name in our city.

Now through July 2021 – Houston Mural Map, Greater Houston

Take your family on a walking tour or drive about town to visit the many wonderful murals and street art installations—nearly 750 in all— throughout Greater Houston. The Houston Mural Map is built using Google maps so you can create your own self-guided tour. Details at https://houstonmuralmap.com 

Oct. 15, Movies Under the Moon: Halloween Edition, Kings Harbor, 1660 W Lake Houston Pkwy., 8:30pm movie begins with previews starting at 7:30pm

The popular Halloween film, Hocus Pocus, will play on a massive 32-foot wide screen near The Green, in between Sharky's and Raffa's. Blankets and chairs are welcome. As a courtesy, no outside food or beverages are allowed. The nearby restaurants offer delicious menu items that can also conveniently be taken to-go. Cost: Free

Oct. 17 – The Market At Sawyer Yards At Night, 1502 Sawyer Street, Houston, 7pm-9pm

This curated market hosts a mix of artist mediums with a focus on folk art.

Oct. 24 – Horror Market Pop-Up, Houston Marriott South At Hobby Airport,
9100 Gulf Freeway, Houston, 11am-6pm

Come out and meet Horror Celebrity Guests and shop Local Houston vendors. Guests will be selling autographs and photos at their tables. Cost: $5; Children 10 and under and FREE with adult purchase.

Oct. 31 – Fall Fun Day at George Ranch Historical Park, 10215 FM 762 Road, 9am-2pm

Enjoy history-based fall activities from the 1830s through the 1930s plus trick-or-treat through the sites. Cost: Admission fees

Oct. 31 – Halloween Town 2020, Constellation Field at 1 Stadium Drive, Sugar Land, 4pm-8pm

Oct. 31 – 49th Annual Halloween Carnival, Jimmy Burke Activity Center, 500 W 13th Street, 2pm-5pm
