I remember the feelings I felt when I bought my first home. Many of our readers can relate. It was an experience full of excitement and adventure…and maybe a little bit of fear. Buying a home is the beginning of a new journey. Along with this journey comes new roles and responsibilities, greater independence, room for abundant creativity, and good old-fashioned work.

Milestone: Buying a Home

It delights me to celebrate when I get the honor of handing house keys to a homeowner. Part of the tradition I love to observe is to snap a few quick photos to memorialize the moment. I enjoy sharing these milestones on my Facebook page and am so appreciative of the supportive page community when the words of congratulations come rolling in.

Here are a sampling of celebrations we observed.

Milestone: High School & College Graduation

These feelings of celebrating buying a home aren’t much different from the feelings one experiences when graduating…another one of life’s great milestones.

Many of this year’s high school and college seniors won’t have the experience of walking across a stage to receive their diploma with a handshake and a smile. What has been the culmination of years of hard work, tenacity, long nights, stress, relationships, and metamorphosis will, in many cases, be celebrated virtually. All of the typical fanfare that accompanies such a great achievement will take on a different form.

In some ways, the Class of 2020 will be the most memorable in recent history. They will certainly have a story to tell the younger generations of their future families one day. They are memorable to me because of their resilience and their selflessness. Of the many members of the Class of 2020 that I know in my life, they are taking all of this in stride, with positive attitudes, excited to embrace life’s next adventure. They are also more concerned about the people impacted by this pandemic than they are for their own end-of-year experiences.

So, while the graduation landscape may look different–virtual, limited attendance with social distancing, or otherwise–know that your community is proud of you! We are behind you and can’t wait to see where life leads you. There will be many more milestones in your life and my hope for you is that you have a much deeper desire to celebrate and embrace them as fully as possible. This experience brings with it a new perspective and that will certainly serve you well in the future.
